HTML vs. Plain Text emails

What is html?

Html stands for HyperText Markup Language. It is used to create web pages and websites. It creates structure of the website or email. With html you as a business can add images as well. This would make your content more accessible and relatable.

What happens when you use html

When you use html, you get the options of making your content eye-catching content. It looks beautiful and you can play around with different kinds of designs, and explore creativity. The following image is a sample of an html email. The email is one sent by twitter to a user.

One aspect to keep in mind while using html is to remember that if you use a lot of images in your email, it will end up in the Promotions or into the spam folder of your viewer’s account. This becomes problematic as most people do not check their spam. This in turn reduces the number of times your email is opened and checked.

What is plain text?

Plain text is just text and only text. you don’t need to format it or write it in code. It is as the name suggests simple and plain. They do not contain any images or any color and are simply designed. . The following is an example of a plain text email.

What happens when you use plain text?

There are greater chances that your email will be viewed by your audience. A slight disadvantage could be that you will not be providing any visual stimulation for your audience. It would be directly addressed to them which makes it all the more likely that your audience will open your email and click on any of the links provided by you. While crafting your email, you must remember that the focus is entirely on your text. and therefore it has to be as interesting and simple as possible to make your audience take the action you want them to.
